Welcome to Ms. Kelly's Web Site
for 8 Green Math.
8 Green celebrated Pi Day on Friday, March 14 (3.14!).
The winners of our reciting digits of Pi from memory were...
2nd place: Akhil Tandon : 230 digits!!
1st place: Ashley Lin: 321 digits !!!
Watching Ahley recits these digits in front of the entire team was an amazing experience for all of us.
Both of these students beat the record set this year at the MIT Pi Day Celebration which was only 150 digits!
Many students wrote poems to commemorate Pi Day. Here are a few:
A Pi-Ku by Matt Loman
Pi: It sounds
Like
Pie, But it’s so
Much
Harder to Digest
Pi Day Poem: The Self-Conscious Circle
by Joy Wang
I once knew a circle who might,
Ask, “Is my circumference too tight?”
With his height an inch high,
He multiplied by pi,
And concluded his size was just right.
Why You Should Never Try to Recite More than 11,999,999 digits of Pi
by Isaac Kozukhin
Oh Tony Ramirez
For twenty long yearez,
Recited the digits of pi.
At twelve million digits,
He said, “That’s my limit!”
And then, he fell over and died.
