Course Description:
The basis of this course is a comprehensive study of fundamental biological concepts. Emphasis is placed on the following: Ecosystems, Matter & Energy, Cells, Inheritance, Genetics, Natural Selection & Earth History, Classification, Bacteria & Viruses, Protists, Fungi, Plants, Photosynthesis, Animals, and Human Anatomy & Physiology.

Daily Requirements & Classroom Rules:
Each member of class is expected to do the following: be on time to class with all necessary class materials, complete work in a timely fashion and meet all deadlines, communicate with each other in a respectful way, participate in all classroom activities, and take an active and responsible role in his/her own learning. Common courtesies apply in class at all times: respect each other and each other’s property, refrain from speaking while other’s are speaking, and be aware not to do or say things that might hurt or offend others. Foul or offensive language will not be tolerated.
Tardiness:
Being tardy to this class will not be tolerated. Each student will receive one warning for tardiness. Subsequent tardiness will result in detention and/or a loss of participation points.
Absences & Make-up Policy:
The guidelines for attendance are outlined in the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School Student/Parent Handbook. All make-up work is the responsibility of the student. Students are expected to make arrangements with the teacher to make up missed work on the day they return from an absence. Make up work must be completed within three school days after returning from an absence unless arrangements have been made with the teacher.
Extra Help:
Extra help is available both before and after school by arrangement. If you need help for any reason all you have to do is ask.

Tests 50 %
Lab Work (including reports) 20 %
Quizzes 10 %
Homework 10 %
Notebook/Participation 10 %
