It was a day of disappointment for the Colonials. The game had originally been scheduled at night for Saturday but was rescheduled due to the impending rain in the forecast. The first half of the game was as dull as a high school soccer game could get as neither team could string together any passes of note. Westford did have a bit more of the ball but they were only able to pepper the AB goalkeeper with shots that were easily saved.
Neither side looked as if they were interested in imposing themselves on the game. With the game in the balance, Westford took it by the scruff of the neck. Acton-Boxborough could not get the ball out of their own half for the first 15 minutes of the half. They were routinely beaten to the ball. Even when an AB player got to the ball first, the ball was turned back over within a touch or two. It was only a matter of time before Westford punished AB for allowing that type of domination. Ten minutes later after much of the same from the Colonials, they conceded again as their was some confusion on the defensive assignments off a Westford throw in.
The Colonials have valiantly fought back from deficits already this season but this time it would catch up to them. They will have a chance to right the ship when they host Lincoln-Sudbury on Tuesday.
