Quote of the week: “Safety and security don’t just happen, they are the result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, a life free of violence and fear.” Nelson Mandela
For the last 2 weeks we have been learning all about construction. We have been so busy and having so much fun exploring all of the different parts of construction. We began by talking about all the different TOOLS that are used in construction. We learned that different tools are used for different things. There are tools that measure like a ruler and a tape measure, there are tools that pound/strike like a hammer, mallet and hatchet, there are tools that grip like pliers and clamps, tools that turn thinks like screwdrivers and wrenches and tools that make things smooth like sandpaper and planes. Who knew there were so many tools that do so many different jobs. We then moved on to construction vehicles. Once again there are so many
different vehicles and each one has an important job. There are excavators and backhoes for digging, loaders and bulldozers for pushing and removing the dirt, graders and pavers for making things smooth, dump trucks and flat beds for hauling, and forklifts and cranes for heavy lifting. It takes many tools and many vehicles to get the job done. Of course the job can never be completed without the smart, strong and hardworking men and women that use and operate all of these things.
