The ancestor doll projects and presentations were fabulous.  The class was interested to hear about their classmates' ancestors.  Next time you come by the class, please take a chance to look at the bulletin board outside the class where the dolls are being displayed.  You will be amazed by the creativity of the class.

Our last MCAS test is a mathematics test.  It
will be taken the week of May 12th.  The math test is scheduled for two days.  Let me know if you have any questions.

This month the class is going to be videotaping fairy tale plays that we have been working on for the last few weeks.  We will watch the videos as a class.  Then, I will  send them home with the students for the families to view.  Please let me know if you do not want your child recorded for this project.

We are in the final stages of our classroom biography projects. For this project each student will have read a biography of his or her choice, made a booklet, and composed a speech for the presentation.  Presentations will be held on Thursday, May 29th from 12:00 – 12:30 in the Gates cafeteria using a “wax museum” format.  Please feel free to come to our “museum” to learn about our biography subjects.
The only part of the project your child needs to work on at home is creating a costume and finding "artifacts".  The costume does not need to be elaborate, and it is my hope that students can find the necessary materials at home as opposed to buying them.  The "artifacts" can also be made or found at home.  The artifacts should be objects that the biography subject might have owned.  For example, a student pretending to be the magician Harry Houdini might bring in or make pretend handcuffs, a drawing of a magic trick and a "magic" hat.
We have talked about this in class, so your child should have some good ideas.  Let me know if you need any help with this.
