Spring 1620
By: The Mayflower Colony
I am nine years old. In my family there are four people. We have been living in Holland for eleven years. They do not have good jobs. We wish we could live in England, but we cannot because we are not able to have our own religion.
Crossing The Great Ocean
By: The Sacagawea Colony
Crossing the great ocean was an adventure. At first the weather was good then it changed and the seas became rough. At one point we feared for our lives when the ship almost cracked. Life on the ship was difficult because we did not have much food. Finally we reached land. The voyage took us two months. We explored when we got off the ship.
Arrival in the New World
By:
Our colony in the new world did not have a government. So we stayed on board our ship and made a plan for our governing our colony. Our leador will be responsible for our tools, ,guns, and swords. We all agreed to sign the contract. Our leader is William. He is a great leader. We are trying to find a way to hide our tools like guns;hammers and swords and stuff.
Building the Settlement
By: The Thanksgiving Colony
Today we began building our houses. First,we sent workers to go to the woods to cut down trees. They brought the timber back. We used these boards to form the walls of our house. Our houses had thatched roofs, and each house had a fireplace so we could cook our meals and stay warm. We were able to build our houses.
Finding Food
By: The Wampos
During our voyage across the Atlantic we ate hardtack. In the New World the Indians showed us other foods we could eat like berries and squash. We did not like these foods because we were used to English food. The lack of food caused death and starvation. So far 41 colonists died. The saddest death was when Milly Pat died because there was a lot of starvation.
Spring Planting
By:The Pilgrims
We have been busy with our spring planting. Each day we work for 5 hours in the feilds. We have planted corn, sqush, and peas. Before the seeds are planted the ground is fertilized. It is hard work. My arms are sore and my hands are covered with blisters. So far we have planted 24 and we want to plant 39 more. We’ll be here working in the fields. We take a break and played a game.
