PUNCTUALITY and CLASS PREPAREDNESS - Arrive to class on time and be prepared to work. I will document tardies. 3 tardies = 1 pt off term grade. Bring binder/notebook, homework, pencils and calculator as course requires to class each day.
ATTENDANCE - If you are absent it is YOUR responsibility to obtain the class notes from another student, to study these notes thoroughly and then to see me to go over anything you do not understand. Homework must be made up within the number of days you have been absent or you will receive no credit for missed homework. If you miss a quiz and/or test, you will be expected to take it the day you return if you were only out that one day. (If you are out for two days, you will have two days to take the make-up, etc.) If quizzes and/or tests are not made-up in the appropriate time frame you will receive a zero for missed quizzes and/or tests. Any exceptions to this would have to be specifically agreed upon in a meeting with the instructor. It is YOUR
responsibility to set up a arrangements for a make-up quiz and/or test with the instructor.
HOMEWORK - Homework is assigned daily and checked on a regular basis. ALL WORK MUST BE SHOWN. Allot at least 30-45 minutes daily to do your homework properly. BEFORE starting your homework, you are expected to diligently study the days notes and class examples. Homework will be counted as a 50 point quiz grade per quarter.
QUIZZES AND/OR TESTS - (SEE RULES UNDER ATTENDANCE if you miss a quiz and/or test.) Quizzes and/or tests will include problems very similar to those done in class and on assigned homework. If you do your homework conscientiously and study both class notes and homework, you will definitely do well. For those receiving less than a B- on quizzes and/or tests, I may ask to see your homework binder for a review of your daily work.
TERM GRADES - Quizzes and/or tests will comprise the major part of your grade. Homework is an EXPECTED part of this course. If it is done in an outstanding manner, with complete work shown, this will influence your term grade positively. If it is not done or if only answers or skimpy work is shown, it will affect your term grade negatively. SEE DEDUCTION NOTE UNDER HOMEWORK. Also, you can positively affect your term grade by demonstrating excellent conduct, excellent attention and participation and respect for your classmates and for your instructor.
